My Next Venture Upon Resignation: Social Media Marketing & Management & Blogging

I announced yesterday that I have resigned from my former place of work and I got really nice and warm responses. Many people wished me well, even before knowing what venture I was going into next. Thank you all. I appreciate your thoughtfulness, good wishes and prayers. May God grant us the best in our respective endeavours, amen.

Out of the comments that my resignation notification post generated, one actually took a good guess at what I would likely be doing next.

So yes! Like my dear sister puts it, I’ve decided to ‘sum up courage to earn a living from my passion’. Like some of my family, friends and clients know, prior to resigning my full time job at my former place of work, I had combined my job with my personal hustles (social media marketing & management and blogging). Before the end of 2015, I came to terms with the fact that I couldn’t continue to do both together and expect to get optimum results from both, hence I knew I couldn’t eat my cake and still have it, I had to make a pick.

So I picked my personal hustles, which are social media marketing & management and blogging. Even though it wasn’t totally easy letting go a paid employment which came with constant pay at a stipulated period of the month, it didn’t also come with so much difficulty making the choice because the truth is I wasn’t earning so much money not to be willing to take a chance with pursuing what I am passionate about plus I felt I could do more for myself and my immediate environment, also I realized I had stayed my time at my former workplace, hence it was time to take the bull by the horn, take a bow, face my fears and move on to the next phase, which is the Self Driven Life (SDL).

So, I’ll be doing all the exploits that I can from this home office of ours by the special grace of God.

I started my blog and my social media business just a year ago, even though I had always written articles and short write ups and shared on social media especially via Facebook for some years now. I got to make many friends from my writings, friends who have turned family and business associates. As per blogging, I haven’t actually fully monetized it, so I can’t say I have started earning from blogging as such, what I primarily make money from for now is my social media marketing & management business. At the moment, blogging (writing) is more of a passion than a business, hopefully I begin to make money from it soon :) . In as much as I haven’t started making money solely from blogging, I cannot take away the fact that it’s been a veritable tool for my social media business as I usually use it to promote my clients’ businesses and I use it to achieve selling for VConnect, Konga and Jumia, I I poorest you to kindly make your online purchases from VConnect, Konga and Jumia via my blog. however much more can be gained from fully monetizing a blog, but then it’s one step at a time.

I have also gotten advise on how to better gain traffic to my blog, some people feel I should also add gossip and celebrity gists/news. In as much as I appreciate people’s advise, I have also respectfully declined as gossip isn’t the focus for my blog, I am particularly more interested in sharing my experiences and expressions via writing and a little bit of news. Not everyone has the power for gossip :) , on a serious note though, for me it isn’t solely about the traffic but the amount of impact I can have on few people. Kindly bear with me and love the blog for what it is.

Even when I decide to write about popular people or celebrities, it would be channeled to passing a message that we can learn from and not just about gossiping about them.

I understand that owning a business isn’t an easy cake, ups and downs, hence I have braced up for the challenges, hoping God sees me through. I fully also understand that self employment is totally different from paid employment as they both come with different pros and cons.

Ultimately, I believe I would be able to serve my clients better and hopefully I can endear more prospective clients. Even though my clients feel I am doing well in terms of the services I render, I realize I can actually do more by improving on myself through trainings in social media marketing & management and blogging.

All of these require time, the time a paid employment can’t afford me, hence the reason for the quit.

So my people, you would be seeing more of me on your timelines, kindly indulge me, I hope not to bore you too much though, however in the event that I bore you slightly, kindly pardon me :)

I thank you all, family, friends, clients, blog readers, social media fans e.t.c. You all have greatly contributed to this journey by keeping up with me and giving your support one way or the other. I am thankful and grateful to you. May God bless us all, amen.
