In 2006 or 2007, I met Moji Olaiya in Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). At the time, I was doing an intern job at NTA 2 channel 5. I vividly remember the spot I met this Nigerian actress, it was on the corridor of the NTA headquarters programming studio where she was obviously waiting for her interview.
The young me was excited to see her and she was so amiable. This is an incidence that happened over a decade ago and I remember it like yesterday, that is how much Moji Olaiya rubbed off on me that day. It was a first lasting impression. I am not a die hard movie fan but I have loved her in every movie I have seen her in, she comes across as an easy going and humble person. Even when she acts the wicked or mean roles, her soft spoken-ness still gives her away. She was definitely one of my screen favourites.
It was with shock and sadness I received the news of her demise this morning.
I have read from different sources that she died today in Canada. My heart goes out to her 2 children especially her 2 months old baby, her parents and her entire family. Her father is the popular veteran highlife musician, Victor Olaiya. May God grant her family and friends the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Below were her last 2 posts on Instagram:
She was 42 years old. May her soul Rest In Peace.
