Still in the Eid (Sallah) mood.
Yesterday, Saturday September 2nd, 2017, Ummah Masjid and Community Centre organized an Eid event for Muslims in celebration of Eid-el Kabir (Sallah). The event had lots of fun activities for kids and even adults, from bouncing castle, horse ride, swings, slides, sack race, henna painting e.t.c. There were lots to eat and drink. We had a nice time.
Later in the evening, one of our Imams in the mosque also hosted us for an Eid potluck. It was a gathering of mainly Africans (Nigerians, Sierra Leonians, Liberia, Somalia, Ghana e.t.c) and we also had some people from other parts of the world join us and even some non-Muslims. We had about 60 people in attendance, it was nice to see people I know and meet new faces. We dined, wined and unwind.
During the past Ramadan, each Muslim family in Halifax had rotationally hosted Iftar (breaking of fast), and I made jollof rice when we hosted then, so our Imam’s wife specifically asked me to bring Nigerian jollof rice to the Eid potluck. I mean what is a party without a Nigerian jollof rice 😀. Just kidding, as we had other great meals too.
We had different dishes from various African countries and some continental cuisines too. This year’s Eid celebration has been a very interesting one and we thank Allah for making us witness the celebration. We pray we witness many more fruitful ones in good health and wealth.
I’ll be sharing some videos on my Facebook and Instagram pages.
Once again, Eid Mubarak.
Meanwhile, it’s a holiday on Monday in Canada. As we will be celebrating Labour’s Day. So it’s going to be a 4 days long weekend for me, just like my Naija peeps. Yippie!
